Treating Melanoma

Melanoma is the most serious and potentially deadly form of skin cancer. Melanoma incidence rates are increasing in the United States. Fair-skinned people with light hair and eye color who tend to burn easily are at increased risk of developing melanoma. In addition, those with large, unusually colored, and irregularly shaped moles are also at a higher risk.

In its earliest stages, melanoma is readily treatable. However, if diagnosed late or left untreated, it can spread to vital organs, frequently becoming life-threatening.
